Radar excels in detecting objects at long distances and in harsh conditions. Radar is underutilized for advanced driver assistance and vessel control when compared to camera and LIDAR sensors due to its natural weaknesses. Radar requires precise tuning, scans very slowly, and returns excess noise.

With in-house machine learning models trained on 2,000,000 + labeled Radar images, ProteusCore implements automatic range and gain tuning for enhanced detection, eliminates noise by classifying every return in the Radar’s view, and tracks those objects with precision.

Classify Radar Detections with Machine Learning

Machine learning excels at classifying Radar detections by analyzing complex patterns that operators might miss. The output of the ProteusCore ML pipeline fuses with additional data sources to further enhance detection, performance, and situational awareness.

ProteusCore software processes Radar returns. Using ML models to filter out sea clutter, side lobe, and multi-path interference, ProteusCore continuously adapts to changing conditions, learning from confirmed classifications to improve accuracy over time. Our approach significantly enhances discrimination between genuine targets and noise, enabling more reliable outputs, enhancing situational awareness, and reducing false alarms that can distract crew during critical operations.
