Who we are
Serial Entrepreneur, Engineer, and lifelong sailor, Tom Patterson, founded Tocaro Blue in 2019 to address issues with complex marine electronics and navigation systems he experienced while sailing across the Atlantic.
Initially Tocaro offered monitoring and tracking systems for vessels to offer a peace of mind to boat owners while away from their vessels. Over time, the Tocaro Blue team recognized that marine Radar was under-utilized across the industry for perception. In 2020, the Tocaro Team began R&D on what is now ProteusCore, a Machine-Learning based Radar processing software that tunes, detects, classifies, and tracks Radar targets automatically.
In 2023, Tocaro Blue acquired their engineering services vendor, Moxie IoT. Experienced tech entrepreneur John Minor was brought on as CEO. Since late 2023, Tocaro Blue has been refining the ProteusCore solution for recreational boating, Defense, and commercial marine applications to solve a variety of challenges related to using marine Radar for advanced detections and collision avoidance.
Our mission is to modernize legacy marine sensors with smart software.
Tocaro Blue builds systems that enable next-generation advanced driver assistance, vessel control systems, navigation software, sensor fusion, and Uncrewed Surface Vessels with machine learning technology.
Our test boat, affectionately named Radar Love, operates four days a week out of Bayou Chico in Pensacola, FL.
